I’m William, though most friends call me Andy. I’m the founder of Alchemy Communications.
I’ve been designing websites since the 1990s, back when the internet itself was still taking shape. Along the way, I studied film at Full Sail and worked as a lighting director and photographer before moving to Finland in 2018. That studio training taught me the discipline I still rely on today: clear briefs, precise execution, and visuals that hold up on any screen.
I’ve built my work on the belief that ideas matter — and that communication is how they come alive. Our world suffers more from a lack of good ideas than from a lack of resources. That’s why my focus is communication: the alchemy that turns raw thought into something others can see, understand, and act on.

The English Circle lives there — a relaxed space for building confidence in English through tips, stories, and real conversation.
But it’s also where I share occasional thoughts on communication, culture, and the creative process. If you’d like a mix of practical language insights and a window into how I approach words, design, and storytelling, you’re welcome to subscribe.
Why do some English learners sound mechanical, while others catch the rhythm and sound alive?

Alchemy Communications is a small, senior-led studio with experience reaching from Liechtenstein to Finland and across the U.S. As a published author, I’m a communicator first and a designer by craft — bringing branding, web, video, and motion together under one roof. My toolkit spans Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, and a copy bench that covers strategy, headlines, and microcopy. Having built and sold businesses in the U.S., I also understand the realities of competition, margins, and momentum. And though I haven’t flown in years, I still hold a commercial pilot’s license — a reminder that precision and perspective have always been part of my work.
My approach is simple: listen carefully, study the market, and create work that resonates. I’m friendly, detail-oriented, and highly motivated — equally at home in public speaking or client training. Once I understand your goals, the value is clear: focused strategy, clean design, and dependable delivery.

The Alchemy Communications Logo
At first glance, the eye seems simple — but it holds multiple layers of meaning.
It nods to the all-seeing eye, an ancient symbol of vision, knowledge, and awareness. For a communications studio, this represents clarity of perspective: seeing the bigger picture while paying attention to detail.
Look closer, and the eye also reveals itself as a science flask, a vessel for experimentation. From the flask emerges a single drop, transforming into a hot air balloon. This evolution captures the creative process: ideas are distilled, refined, and lifted into something greater — a spark becoming a journey, imagination given flight.
Within the eye there’s also an inverted Omega — Ω — a detail that may not be obvious at first, but one that deepens the meaning. Omega, the final letter of the Greek alphabet, has long symbolized the end, the ultimate point. Inverting it shifts the perspective: endings become beginnings, limits give way to possibility.
For Alchemy Communications, this inversion reflects the creative cycle itself. Every project is a kind of ending — of confusion, of unfinished ideas, of unclear messaging. But in that ending is also a beginning — a new identity, a clear voice, a design that moves forward. It’s a reminder that creative work is transformation, turning what feels final into something full of potential.
This symbolism connects directly to my earlier company, The Creative Laboratory Finland, where the “lab” was the place ideas were tested and transformed. The eye keeps that spirit alive — a reminder that every brand begins as raw material, shaped into something that can rise and carry others with it.
The “A” in Alchemy Communications is more than just a letter — it’s also a pyramid, a timeless symbol of strength, stability, and human aspiration. Pyramids have stood for thousands of years as monuments to vision and precision, qualities every brand needs in order to endure.
The capped pyramid represents completion: a project finished, an idea brought to its highest point. The uncapped pyramid, by contrast, symbolizes the unfinished — the ongoing search for knowledge, the pursuit of clarity, the openness to possibility. By blending these two ideas, the “A” becomes a mark of both achievement and growth: every design is complete in itself, yet always part of something larger still being built.
For Alchemy Communications, this is a fitting emblem. It captures the balance between foundation and imagination — the grounded structure that supports a brand, and the upward momentum that carries it higher.

Alongside the design side of Alchemy Communications is communication in practice.
I founded The English Circle in Jämsä as a community project to help people build confidence in their English. It isn’t about textbooks or tests — it’s about conversation, connection, and learning by doing. We meet online and in local cafés, practicing real English in real situations.
